Note from Ron: “African” is not a race. Africa is a place where “Africans” live. What does a non-black Egyptian put for “Race?” It is sad that even since the 1960’s most people do not understand the difference in Race, Color and Ethnicity (and even more, nationality). While you can argue over what denotes “Race” it would never make “Caucasian” and “African” in the same group. Humans are not that simple. We are very very diverse. “African” alone does not factor Brazilian, Aborigine, or New Guinean yet their skin can be as dark as anyones and they are not from Africa.
How about this, we just say “Person” or “Human Being” from now on. Better yet, how about teaching kids in school what Pangaea was. Even though it does not explain race in humans, it will give them an understanding of flora and fauna (and a landbridge in the case of humans) so that they can grasp simple basic elements of Biology that a government form cannot.
In Human Beings we have Negroid race, the Caucasoid race, the Mongoloid race, the Australoid race, and the Capoid race. The last 2 can technically be grouped into the first 3 groups depending. I should also let you know that these are not even quite this simple so I suggest you look into them. NOT knowing these things is what is offensive.
and oh yeah… Obama was born in the U.S. a few years after Hawaii became a state please shut the fuck up about this. With that said, people should also understand that Obama could at some points, have been considered a citizen of other countries. While this is not laid out clearly by law on what does or does not happen (It really just says: 35 years old, Born in the U.S., etc.) While it may be a grey area, if someone starts bitching in front of you about it, ask them nicely to look up where John McCain was born. (Hint: Not in the U.S. though it is another “Grey” area.)
